Celebrating Jim Powell: A Hall of Fame Induction

At Transportation Development Group (TDG), we are thrilled to share some exciting news: our President and founder, Jim Powell, has been inducted into the LabelMaster Hall of Fame.
LabelMaster, a long-standing hub for Dangerous Goods (DG) expertise — from regulations and training to packaging and compliance solutions — honored Jim alongside industry leaders Alex McCullough and Tom Ferguson, stating: “Their work has made a lasting impact on dangerous goods safety and compliance. Let’s give them all a round of applause!”
A Lifetime of Dedication to Dangerous Goods
Jim’s journey in the DG industry began back in 1980 when he served as Director of Cargo for DHL Air Cargo at Honolulu International Airport. There, he recognized the need for better training in hazardous materials handling and developed FAA-approved courses to improve safety and compliance.
That early commitment to education and safety led Jim to found Transportation Development Group (TDG) nearly a decade later, in 1992. What started as a training initiative has grown into a trusted, global resource for DG compliance and expertise.
Still Leading, Still Shaping the Future
More than 40 years later, Jim continues to lead TDG with the same vision and passion. Beyond his role here, he also serves as a member of the United Nations Committee of Experts (UNCOE) — the international body that sets the framework for harmonized DG regulations worldwide. His work at the UNCOE helps shape the very foundation of DG compliance on a global scale.
A Well-Deserved Recognition
Jim’s induction into the LabelMaster Hall of Fame is not just an individual honor — it’s a recognition of the values that TDG was built upon: safety, compliance, and industry leadership. We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate this milestone with him.
Please join us in congratulating Jim for this remarkable achievement and for his enduring contributions to making the transport of dangerous goods safer for everyone.
