What is required to mark and label a hazardous materials package?

There are several marks and labels that may be required on a shipment containing hazardous materials or dangerous goods as defined by the US Department of Transportation.

This can include, but is not limited to, hazard class labels, orientation arrows, shipper’s information, identification number and proper shipping name markings.

Applying the appropriate hazard communication to your package is just one of the steps required to properly prepare a hazardous materials shipment safely and in accordance with the appropriate regulations.

DOT Chart 16 shows you all of the approved marks and labels.
