DOT Lithium Battery Training (Small Excepted batteries only)

For those shipping only small “excepted” batteries and cells (<= 100 Wh and 20 Wh respectively for lithium-ion batteries, or 2 grams or 1 gram for lithium metal batteries or cells). The program has been updated to include Packing Instruction 965-IB as well as a short security and safety course so it does not require you to take the full-certification training. Program Summary:

Lithium battery regulations are complex—but not all lithium batteries are subject to all of the regulations. Small lithium batteries—(cell phone batteries, button cells, and others) — qualify for some relief when shipped in certain ways. This training program is comprised of three modules: 1) Introduction 2) Classification 3) Small (Excepted) Lithium-Ion and Lithium Metal shipping procedures. The training program includes a pretest which allows you to review your knowledge in advance and skip modules if you can pass the pretests with a high degree of confidence and a 100% score.

Certification Details:

Our excepted lithium battery training includes the required elements to meet the General Awareness, Safety, Security and Function-Specific training for shipping small lithium batteries by air.

Employees who are involved in the preparation, packing and/or handling of small (excepted) batteries only that meet the definition outlined above. This includes shippers, forwarders, and carriers who interact with dangerous goods / hazardous materials.
